About The Position
The Mechanic Helper will assist under the direction of the Vehicle Maintenance Manager in maintaining and repairing the vehicle and equipment fleet in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations and the Dodge Ridge Maintenance Program. This position requires a willingness to learn, take direction, and perform all tasks with a safety-first attitude. This position may also provide support to other maintenance projects such as Lift and Facility Maintenance under the guidance of the Vehicle Maintenance Manager. This position is a KEY member of the Dodge Ridge Team.
Requirements
- Must be at least age 18.
- Be technically and mechanically minded, with strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to read and write legibly and to use good composition skills to complete records and report forms.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced, task-oriented environment and maximize the use of time.
- Must be able to work in an environment involving noise pollution, requiring the use of hearing protection.
- Possess the ability to learn and be knowledgeable of the needs of the equipment and standard procedures for their care and safe operation.
- Possess the ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Be well-groomed and present a professional public image.
- Be in good physical condition, as this position requires standing for long periods of time and the shoveling of snow.
- May be required at times to do heavy, awkward lifting, (up to 100lbs.-with assistance).
- Must be capable of tolerating heights.
- Have good manual and physical dexterity skills.
- Provide a positive and helpful attitude towards all our customers and all Dodge Ridge employees.

Responsibilities
- Assist, under direction, in the maintenance and repair of the Dodge Ridge vehicle and equipment fleet.
- Assist, under direction, with performing diagnostic tests and troubleshooting to determine the cause of malfunctions.
- May be required, under direction, to keep detailed, accurate work logs and records of daily, weekly, and monthly repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Meet service-level objectives and department standards as set forth by the immediate supervisor.
- Responsible use and care of radio equipment.
- Assist with other maintenance projects as directed.
- Use the appropriate safety equipment for the task being performed.
- Recognize, and report any safety hazards within the work environment.
- Understand and follow the Dodge Ridge Safety Plan.
- Maintain a high level of organization, professionalism, and cleanliness in all workstations; adhering to and accountable for the proper care, storage and safety procedures regarding the use of tools and equipment.
