About The Position

Battlefield Equipment Rentals (a division of Toromont Industries Ltd.), one of Canada’s premiere Construction Rental Companies, has an immediate requirement for a full-time Heavy Duty Mechanic at our Antigonish location. Our busy, team-oriented shops place a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction. The service department is an important area of our business, ensuring that our equipment is ready and available, as well as maintaining a flow of information on that equipment for both the rental staff and the sales staff.

Requirements

  • An experienced technician, or 2nd/3rd year apprentice with the ability to diagnose, perform failure analysis, and repair of Large booms, Scissors, and Telehandlers;
  • Existing knowledge of Aerial and Material Handling Electrical and Hydraulic and Powertrain systems;
  • Hands on experience in the repair and service/maintenance requirements for various types of booms, scissors and telehandler type equipment;
  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with company and factory standards;
  • Ability to work independently, and in a team atmosphere;
  • Good communication and people skills;
  • Strong time management and organizational skills;
  • Flexible work schedule available;
  • Applicant must be able to perform heavy lifting; as heavy lifting will be required frequently;
  • Your own tools are required.

Nice To Haves

  • The ideal candidate will have previous experience with Genie, Cat, JLG, MEC, Snorkel and Skyjack Equipment;
  • Apprentices are encouraged to apply;

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and organized work station;
  • Troubleshoot and estimate costs of repairs;
  • Verify and inspect rental equipment to ensure proper functioning and to detect faults and avoid malfunctions;
  • Adjust equipment and repairs or replace defective parts, components or systems using hand and power tools;
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure manufacturers' specifications compliance;
  • Clean, lubricate and perform routine maintenance work on equipment;
  • Service attachments and working tools;
  • Order parts as needed;
  • Complete different service reports.
  • Operate and maintain all shop equipment and ensure a safe, clean & organized shop area;
  • All other duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman and Service Manager;
  • All other duties as assigned by the Branch & Service Managers.
