This role involves repairing malfunctioning components, retrofitting engines, changing brakes, adjusting steering systems, replacing worn-out parts, and changing hydraulic fluids. The mechanic will utilize computerized equipment, along with various tools such as lathes, welding torches, pneumatic wrenches, hydraulic jacks, screwdrivers, pliers, mallets, and precision gauges. A key part of the job includes test driving trucks before and after repairs, as needed, to ensure operational readiness.
