About The Position

Paratransit, Inc. is seeking applications for a Mechanic C (Entry-Level) to perform routine preventive maintenance and basic repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment. This role operates under close supervision, assisting with inspections and repairs, and is responsible for preventive maintenance tasks and supporting more complex maintenance activities. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with occasional shifts starting as early as 5:30 AM for training or as needed. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Requirements

• Valid California Class C Driver’s License, with a clean driving record
• Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement upon hire
• ASE Certification or successful completion of related field certification required, or 1-2 years of work experience
• Must be reliable and responsible
• Ability to learn the operation and repair characteristics of buses, trucks, vans, automobiles, and other equipment
• Familiarity with mechanic tools, materials, and practices
• Must pass a drug test (including marijuana)
• Must be able to show proof of having all 3 of the following documents: Certified Birth Certificate, Valid/unexpired Permanente Resident Card, U.S. Certificate of Birth Aboard or Consular Report of Birth Abroad of U.S. Citizen, U.S. Passport or Certificate of Naturalization; Social Security Card; California Driver License.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel engines is a plus.
