About The Position

Paratransit, Inc. is seeking applications for a full-time Mechanic C position. This entry-level role involves performing routine preventive maintenance and basic repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment. The Mechanic C will work under close supervision, assisting with inspections and repairs, and will be responsible for preventive maintenance tasks and supporting more complex maintenance activities.

Requirements

• Valid California Class C Driver’s License, with a clean driving record
• Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement upon hire
• Must be reliable and responsible
• Ability to learn the operation and repair characteristics of buses, trucks, vans, automobiles, and other equipment
• Familiarity with mechanic tools, materials, and practices
• Must pass a drug test (including marijuana)
• Must be able to show proof of having all 3 of the following documents: Certified Birth Certificate, Valid/unexpired Permanente Resident Card, U.S. Certificate of Birth Aboard or Consular Report of Birth Abroad of U.S. Citizen, U.S. Passport or Certificate of Naturalization; Social Security Card; California Driver License.

Nice To Haves

• ASE Certification or successful completion of related field certification
• 1-2 years of work experience
• Knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel engines is a plus
