The Mechanic C performs preventative maintenance inspections, diagnoses and repairs minor coach problems; assists other mechanics, and helps to ensure a work environment that meets safety and regulatory standards for Keolis Transit North America. This role involves performing preventative maintenance inspections on all types and classes of coaches following vehicle-specific checklists, which are based on mileage and days. The mechanic will review repair manuals and part manuals for aid in making minor repairs. Inspections and repairs include, but are not limited to, ADA equipment, articulate joints, brakes, chassis, cooling systems, engines, interior/exterior lighting, gauges and controls, safety equipment, fire extinguishers and sensitive edges, tires, and transmissions. The position requires computer skills for diagnosing all sub-components of a Transit coach, inspecting and verifying problems using various diagnostic equipment, and cleaning, repairing, and replacing coach equipment as required under supervision. The mechanic will test coaches for proper working order, including road driving tests, and fill out work orders specifying parts and labor. This role also involves assisting Mechanic A and Mechanic B with repair work, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment by sweeping and cleaning the work area, general housekeeping, and disposing of waste products into proper containment.
