About The Position

The Mechanic Assistant performs routine mechanical activities to provide required maintenance for vehicles and equipment. Assists in performing a variety of automotive, mechanical and electrical activities to maintain operation of vehicles such as repair/installation of brakes, exhaust and cooling/electrical systems. Helping in the diagnosis problems or recurring malfunctions and chooses course of action. Assists in monitoring inventory levels of equipment, and tools. Performs daily inspections. Uses hand tools, such as hoists, drills, grinding wheels and motor analyzers. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Mechanic assistant works under the direction of the Lead Mechanic and Logistics Supervisor. To perform this job successfully, the Mechanic helper assistant must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with minimum supervision.

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 4-6 years of experience
  • Must have a working knowledge of computer use, internet, Microsoft Office, and related software.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine mechanical activities to provide required maintenance for vehicles and equipment.
  • Assists in performing a variety of automotive, mechanical and electrical activities to maintain operation of vehicles such as repair/installation of brakes, exhaust and cooling/electrical systems.
  • Helps in diagnosing problems or recurring malfunctions and chooses course of action.
  • Assists in monitoring inventory levels of equipment, and tools.
  • Performs daily inspections.
  • Uses hand tools, such as hoists, drills, grinding wheels and motor analyzers.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Receives work order from the Lead Mechanic and ensures work is completed according to company policies and procedures with optimal turn around time.
  • Completes work order inspections checklist for all performed work orders sent in a timely and accurate manner under the supervision of the mechanic.
  • Performs complex repairs of common construction equipment such as but not limited to backhoes, dump trucks, jumping jacks, …etc. under the supervision of the Lead Mechanic.
  • Performs engine overhauls of heavy-duty equipment, machines and trucks, if ever directed.
  • Responsible for emergency work orders and possesses the ability to perform emergency work repairs on site, if ever directed.
  • Performs basic vehicle and heavy equipment tune ups and all other general preventative maintenance.
  • Maintains an organized storage of all maintenance records for all and any trucks, heavy duty equipment and machines.
  • Washes, inspects and greases all returned equipment as it arrives to the yard.
  • Correctly labels equipment that are deemed damaged and send reports in a timely and accurate manner to create a work order and schedule repairs.
  • Performs returned equipment inspections from job sites.
  • Submits timecards accurately and on time.
  • Updates Vista with maintenances completed.
