About The Position

Perform all Mechanical Maintenance assignments of a trade or craft nature for which an employee is trained and/or qualified to complete, with a preference in HVAC- new installations, corrective preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting experience. Trade/craft assignments can include but are not limited to performing preventative and/or corrective maintenance activities on HVAC equipment including air handling units, chillers, condensers, (refrigerant systems), glycol systems along with plumbing repairs. Work in cooperation with D&D crews and projects to allow the D&D work to be performed in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be recognized as a journeyman craftsman or trades person or have a minimum of four years' relevant commercial or industrial experience in HVAC.
  • Must be able to attend and qualify as Confined Space Entrant/Attendant, Asbestos Abatement Worker, HazWoper 24-or 40-hour Worker, and Radiological Worker II with respirator user etc. as required by management for the completion of assigned work activities.
  • Wearing respirators or pressure suits when working in contaminated and airborne areas for up to 6 hours/day while performing intermittent (several minutes at a time) physically demanding work including pushing/pulling/lifting (up to 50 lbs. or 1/3 of body weight, whichever is less), gripping/grasping, stooping, prolonged standing, and twisting.
  • Perform physically demanding work, including climbing, lifting, carrying, repetitive pushing/pulling, griping, grasping, stooping, twisting (task specific and variable), and standing.
  • Perform repetitive work at or above shoulder height, including pushing/pulling/twisting of hand tools with both arms for up to 6 hours/day.
  • Use of mechanical hand tools and/or power tools that may require repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motion.
  • Universal candidates must have knowledge of commercial and industrial HVAC systems to include chillers, heat pumps, brazing, scroll and screw compressors. Read and understand equipment technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Understanding of various types of freon (R-22, 134A & 41OA), and how to safely handle these types of freon during charging and evacuation activities on AC systems.
  • Perform work in accordance with all applicable laws, codes, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Able to obtain an "L" security clearance and qualify as a Radiological Worker II.
  • Work in hazardous locations such as Confined Space(s).
  • Work at heights.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Universal Freon Certification.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Must have registered with the Selective Service System (SSS) if male and born after December 31, 1959.
  • Must provide a resume and answer all questions on the application screens.
  • Must submit to chemical screening subsequent to an offer of employment.
