The responsibilities of the Mechanic 1st Class include but are not limited to the following mechanical and E&I requirements: Safely perform general mechanical work as required including construction, repairs, modifications, inspections, and troubleshooting. Mechanical job assignments include rebuilds to OEM specifications and tolerances, repair, precision alignment and replacement of pumps, blowers, compressors, alignment, bearings, piping, valves, cranes & rigging, heat exchangers, refrigeration systems, gear reducers, hydraulic systems, boilers, steam systems, screw conveyors, pressure vessels, storage tanks, and other equipment. Safely perform general electrical and instrumentation work as required including construction, repairs, modifications, inspections, and troubleshooting. Process instrumentation calibration using software for planning, managing and documentation. Electrical and Instrumentation job assignments include AC single and three phase electric power up to and including 480 volts, control and signal applications of AC and DC, conduit installation, instrument work, minor pipe connections, wiring methods, use of tools, PLC troubleshooting and repair, Safety Integrity Level Instrumentation procedures, wireless instrumentation configuration and installation. Must have a strong aptitude for trouble-shooting and solving problems with mechanical equipment, low voltage electrical equipment, instrumentation and electronic control systems (PLC’s, DCS) including simple control logic. Troubleshoots issues with motor control circuits, including variable frequency drives. Understanding of electrical safety codes and process safety requirements. Use CMMS computer system for documenting maintenance work. Write, review and follow all standard operating procedures and job analyses. Participate in hazard reviews, MOC’s and complete improvement projects on the plans. Review and follow all safety rules, procedures, and practices for the safety of themselves, other employees and contractors. Actively participate in all plant environmental, safety, and health training, policies and programs at the plant. Any other related work as directed by the supervisor.
