About The Position

This role is for a full-time Mechanical Technician working the second or third shift. The position requires a high level of competency in various facility maintenance functions, adherence to safety and quality standards, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and operational support.

Requirements

  • Ability to complete non-optional requirements within established time frames: Educode, Annual health screening, CPR, Education and training sessions (Lockout/tag out, confined spaces, etc).
  • Attend required number of staff meetings (90% attendance rate).
  • Make decisions based on sound and reasonable thinking, considering all factors and not being hasty.
  • Recognize situations that are potential problems and ensure decisions lead to workable solutions within an effective time frame.

  • Able to perform a wide variety of basic facility maintenance functions (electrical, mechanical, plumbing and HVAC).
  • Have a full understanding of the organization’s Life Safety, Safety, and Infection Control policies and procedures.
  • Have a full understanding of the codes and regulations affecting their job responsibilities (i.e., medical gas systems codes, life safety codes, air quality regulations, arc flash codes, electrical codes, plumbing codes, DHEC regulations, etc).
  • Develop maintenance skills and knowledge by attending educational programs and training.
  • Have proper knowledge of codes and regulations regarding usage and disposal of chemicals used.
  • Knowledgeable and efficient in maintaining all equipment and areas of responsibility.
  • Complete 95% to 100% of competencies.
  • Maintain his/her certifications (ie. backflow, refrigerant, electrical etc).
  • Complete assigned PM work orders.
  • Demonstrate the ability to do the most important work first.
  • Able to manage assignments if workload is increased.
  • Prioritize so vital activities are accomplished.
  • Actual worked hours vs actual hours paid equals >85%.
  • Work is performed correctly the first time all the time (no short-cuts, partial repairs, or callbacks).
  • Work is completed such that it shall comply with required codes or standards pertaining to the individual's assigned job responsibilities.
  • Work area/equipment is properly maintained and kept clean (equipment or area wiped clean, properly disposes of work-related trash and parts).
  • Work requests are filled out correctly and accurately (start and finished times, locations, materials, labor comments).
  • PM workorders are completed within the established time periods and turned in on time.
  • Recognizes work to be done and pursues to completion.
  • Seeks additional work when routines are completed.
  • Pursues additional involvement beyond the completion of extra and routine tasks.
