Meatroom Operator EM: Sun-Tues 6pm-6am Wed 6pm-12am
About The Position
Safely grind meats for use in various formulas. This role involves operating machinery, ensuring proper batching and weighing of meats, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The operator will also be responsible for the fresh meat side of the meat room and participating in weekly sanitation. As a member of the team, the operator will contribute to team concepts, policies, and problem-solving to ensure B.E.S.T practices and overall organizational synergy. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems and a commitment to supporting business objectives are expected.
Requirements
- Must lift up to 50 lbs and stand on feet for entire shift.
- Company issued protective wear

- Slip resistant boots
- Hearing Protection
- Machine Operation preferred.
- Manufacturing or warehouse industry experience.
- Communication skills & decision quality - Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
- A highly responsive ability to react to daily production priorities in a calm and focused manner.

Responsibilities
- Safely grind meats for use in various formulas.
- Check that grinders are assembled.
- Prepare meats on the meat table in order thrown.
- Ensure that proper meats are batched for each formula and weight specification by selecting the proper meats for the formula and conveying them to the grinders.
- Push meats onto conveyors as indicated by each product formula.
- Inspect meat blocks for: foreign material, spoilage, off odor, green meat and/or excess denaturing.
- Reverse plate and change knives.
- Wash down floor and equipment between batches.
- Shovel scrap meat from floor to scrap totes with drainage holes.
- Clean and stack empty pallets neatly for removal to designated areas.
- Run the fresh meat side of the meat room.
- Perform weekly sanitation.
- Participate as a member of the Team, fostering cohesiveness and resolving issues.
- Maintain familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems and support their objectives.
- Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
