About The Position

The Meat Sales Associate supports the meat department by stocking and presenting products, assisting customers, maintaining freshness and quality, and keeping work areas clean and safe. The role may include grinding and cutting certain meats and poultry, weighing and wrapping merchandise, handling deliveries, and assisting with other store duties. The associate follows company procedures, food and personal safety codes, and applicable health and OSHA requirements. No prior experience is required. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• Completed or working toward a high school diploma or GED.
• Able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without an accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Keep meat department cases stocked and appealing to meet customer demand.
• Greet customers, suggest products, answer questions about cuts and preparation, take future-delivery orders, and help with special requests.
• Address customer concerns promptly and courteously.
• Set up displays and rotate products as needed.
• Ensure meat is fresh, saleable, and displayed with correct prices and signage; handle spoiled, damaged, or near-expiration product according to company procedures and remove unsaleable product.
• Grind and cut certain meats and poultry as needed.
• Weigh and wrap merchandise at customer request and apply labels showing the correct price and weight.
• Maintain logs that track freshness and quality.
• Follow food and personal safety codes when handling products and kitchen tools.
• Maintain department sanitation by following cleaning schedules and guidelines, keeping work areas and equipment clean, and properly disposing of trash and emptying bone cans.
• Help minimize shrink and control damages; report shortages or overages to the manager.
• Assist with receiving, unloading, checking in, breaking down, and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack if properly trained.
• Assist with baling cardboard or related duties if properly trained.
• Cooperate with coworkers and superiors to ensure the department and store function smoothly.
• Continuously improve job performance and use company-provided personal protective equipment.
• Assist in other departments when called upon.
