About The Position

The Meat Clerk position requires an individual to perform essential duties with accuracy and maintain a high level of productivity. This role involves developing excellent customer relations through friendly and courteous behavior, promoting high morale within the department and store through open communication, and maintaining good working relationships with other department managers to improve storewide sales. The position also requires compliance with all company policies and directives. Responsibilities include assisting in maintaining product freshness, proper code dating, tares, and merchandising in compliance with governmental guidelines and company policies. The clerk must be capable of recognizing the quality of meats, distinguishing between types and cuts, and assisting with department pricing, rotation, and merchandising to meet company objectives. Maintaining an awareness of competitive activity, pulling outdated products, rewrapping, applying new labels, and staying informed about sale prices and product locations are also key duties. Additionally, the role involves answering guest inquiries promptly and in a friendly manner.

Requirements

  • Ability to write, speak, hear, and understand the spoken word to respond promptly to pages, requests, team members and guests.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or related job experience and/or training are preferred.
  • No experience required.
  • 18 years of age.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form or when helping resolve a team member or guest concern.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs. or more.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit and develop maximum customer relations through friendly and courteous behavior.
  • Promote a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication.
  • Maintain good working relationships with other department managers with the objective of improving sales storewide.
  • Comply with all company policies, programs and directives as specified in the Code of Conduct.
  • Assists in maintaining proper freshness, code dating, tares, and merchandising of the products in compliance with governmental guidelines and company policies and procedures.
  • Capable of recognizing the quality of all service and self-service meats from their appearance and distinguishing between types and cuts of meat.
  • Assists in proper department pricing, rotating and merchandising to meet company policies, procedures and objectives.
  • Maintains an awareness of competitive activity within the store marketing area.
  • Pulls outdated, rewraps or applies new labels as necessary.
  • Stays aware of current sale prices and location of products.
  • Answers guest inquiries in a prompt and friendly manner.
