The Meat Clerk is responsible to ensure that customer service is provided while maintaining a safe and efficient Meat Department while adhering to Company policies, procedures and standards.

Requirements

  • Grade 9 or acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Related retail experience, including the provision of customer service
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Knowledge of meat products / experience

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through the proper handling of customer questions, comments, requests and complaints.
  • Effectively works in a diverse team environment in a proficient and friendly manner.
  • Performs all aspects of Meat function including but not limited to, stocking, proper storage of product, displays and facing in an efficient and organized manner.
  • Ensures display presentation and stock levels are maintained.
  • Handles merchandise ensuring quality, minimizing damages, markdowns and ensure price integrity including price changes.
  • Performs general clean up duties such as cleaning spills and display fixtures to ensure a neat and organized department is maintained.
  • Responsible for ensuring the sales floor and back stock area are clean of cardboard and debris, including disposal of garbage.
  • Performs duties following established Occupational Health and Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure the health and safety of all staff and customers.
  • Ensures the proper care, use and maintenance of equipment and tools and reports repair requirements to the Meat Supervisor, Meat or Duty Manager.
  • While working product verify invoices and report any discrepancies to the Supervisor.
  • Assists in organizing and conducting inventory.
  • Operation of the grinder is not permitted.
