Meat Assistant Manager
About The Position
Cardenas Markets is seeking an Assistant Meat Manager to maintain and manage the meat department’s activities in the absence of the Meat Manager. The role supports department operations by assisting with sales, product ordering, inventory management, compliance with health guidelines, scheduling, and overall business management. The position involves supporting sales and labor planning, scheduling work according to projected sales and workload, serving customers, maintaining inventory, completing assigned opening and closing duties, monitoring meat, poultry, and seafood quality, and helping ensure team members follow safety and health guidelines. The stated pay scale is $18.90 to $21.60; individual pay depends on factors including skills, relevant experience, education, and training.
Requirements
- Valid Food Handlers Card.
- Prior grocery-store experience.
- At least two years of experience as a meat cutter.
- Understanding of grocery store operations.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to develop and achieve sales and production goals.

Responsibilities
- Assist the Meat Manager with preparing weekly sales and labor projections to maximize sales and profits.
- Assist with preparing a weekly schedule based on projected sales and workload.
- Greet and assist customers and respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
- Maintain inventory levels.
- Complete assigned opening and closing duties.
- Assist with monitoring the quality of meat, poultry, and seafood.
- Help ensure team members follow safety and health guidelines.
- Manage the meat department’s activities in the absence of the Meat Manager.
