About The Position

This role requires a Measurements Engineer III with a strong background in optical engineering, computer science, physics, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering. The position involves hands-on experience with optical systems, imaging hardware, and measurement instruments, along with programming skills in Python and/or C# for data manipulation and system integration. A key aspect of the role is the application of machine vision algorithms and machine learning techniques for data analysis and system development. The engineer will be responsible for data retrieval, plotting, and analysis, and will utilize software development tools such as Halcon, OpenCV, or LabVIEW. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential, as is the ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10-30% of the time for trips ranging from one day to several weeks. The work schedule is 40 hours per week with a flexible schedule as needed.

Requirements

  • Prefer BS, MS, or PhD in Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
  • 7+ years' experience with the skills listed in the Required skills section.
  • Hands-on experience with optical systems, imaging hardware, and measurement instruments.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or C# for data manipulation and system integration.
  • Knowledge of machine vision algorithms (blob analysis, edge detection, morphology, feature extraction, classification, etc.).
  • Experience with machine learning techniques, including training CNNs and utilizing traditional methods.
  • Data retrieval, plotting, and analysis using tools like Excel, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Familiarity with software development tools such as Halcon, OpenCV, or LabVIEW.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (MS Office programs).

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in optical metrology techniques, including 3D measurement, lasers, and physical optics.
  • Experience with motion control systems and imaging platforms.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and process improvement methodologies (e.g., design of experiments).
