About The Position

Monitors, estimates, analyses and reports on CenterPoint Energy’s gas distribution system. Reporting includes gas measurement, billing and Lost & Unaccounted For Gas (LUFG).

Requirements

  • Requires one year of college from an accredited college or university, OR equivalent work related experience such as electronic flow meters, LUFG analysis, Gas Supply and/or data analysis.
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years experience in accounting or gas operations, preferably in the gas control, measurement, and/or allocations area.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and monitors electronic flow measurement data from transportation customers and town border stations.
  • Monitors and resolves daily and monthly data exception reports on electronic data collection units.
  • Provides assistance and direction to field technicians in troubleshooting data collection equipment (telephone, modem, instrumentation, etc.)
  • Provides resources for calculating and interpreting gas constituents and heating value.
  • Provides standard configuration and setup of electronic instruments.
  • Provides ready resource to field technicians on instrument setup and configurations.
  • Evaluate gas capacity and gas usage.
  • Provide support for LUFG reporting and data gathering.
  • Generates and maintains curtailment reporting lists and priority documentation.
  • Work closely with Gas Supply Department to ensure that adequate supplies are purchased to serve all of gas distributions needs on all pipelines.
  • Coordinates the reception of city gate volume data via hard copy volume statements for input to LUFG and reviews same for abnormal flow characteristics.
  • Provide volume statements and gas measurement data to Gas Supply Department, CCS billing, third parties, and end-users.
  • Resolves questions from third parties and end-users and provides volume calculation backup for data and estimates.
  • Setup electronic flow meters for transportation customers in coordination with Marketing, Gas Supply, and CCS Billing representatives.
  • Represent CNP in volumetric settlements and disputes.
  • Provides daily and monthly reports on gas measurement operations.
  • Gathers field documentation on measurement activities and tracks testing status as required.
  • Provides guidance and maintains consistency in billing devices.
  • Audits third party gas volumes for appropriateness and compares receipts to system deliveries for maintaining LUFG.
  • Collect and review gas analysis for proper gas quality, heating value (BTU), and contract performance requirements.
  • Maintains and modifies supporting data programs use in collection of field data, data retrieval, compilation, and reporting.
  • Provides data record management for gas volume administration and audit requests.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
