About The Position

On an as-needed basis, the Measurement Control Support Specialist reports to the Manager, Regulatory Affairs, and is responsible for statistical consultations, support of Safeguards / Material Control & Accounting (MC&A) audits and peer review of site measurement control programs, and related statistical evaluations, for nuclear material. You will work on-site at our Columbia Fields location.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in mathematics or statistics required.
  • 25+ years of applicable engineering experience is required.
  • 25+ years in nuclear measurement control and thorough understanding of metrology and statistics
  • Thorough understanding of metrology and statistics, limit of error of inventory differences (LEID) and standard error of inventory differences (SEID) models, calculation techniques and computer programs, and related system checks

Responsibilities

  • Perform statistical analysis, identify problems and propose technical solutions to projects and tasks that are partially defined and moderately complex in nature, requiring knowledge and experience within given disciplines.
  • Verify work of other MC&A staff on assignments that range from low complexity to highly complex in nature as needed.
  • Provide statistical guidance and/or training to other personnel.
  • Participate in safeguards / MC&A audits as needed.
  • Communicate the nature and status of work performed to appropriate Westinghouse management.
  • Identify and communicate areas for measurement control improvements to MC&A personnel and management.
