About The Position

The Meal Site Worker performs daily meal service duties at congregate meal sites for older adults to assist with facilitating the nutrition program for the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC). This role involves ensuring the safe and efficient operations of the assigned daily congregate meal site, including setup, service, and cleanup. The worker will also be responsible for ordering and picking up food and supplies, adhering to sanitation and safe food handling policies, and maintaining basic records. Additionally, the position requires establishing effective working relationships with participants and community members, informing them about available services, and reporting any observed changes in participant well-being. Safeguarding donations and performing basic first aid are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of criminal and caregiver background checks.
  • Pre-employment physical.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Acceptable driving record.
  • Access to private transportation for work-related duties.
  • Possess and maintain personal automobile insurance in the amount of $100,000/$300,000.

Nice To Haves

  • Post secondary education or formal training in the food service field.
  • Experience interacting with older adults and individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience with providing basic first aid; first aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily meal service duties at congregate meal sites for older adults.
  • Assists in full meal service operations to include setup, service, clean up, meal ordering, and delivery.
  • Orders and picks up food and supplies from ADRC.
  • Follows sanitation and safe food handling policies and procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, volunteers, meal site participants, and the public using a trauma informed model of service.
  • Informs participants and others about services provided by the ADRC and other community agencies.
  • Reports perceived changes in participant appearance, behavior, or other problem areas to ADRC Manager.
  • Utilizes knowledge of safeguarding measures to ensure secure handling and confidentiality of donations.
  • Communicates donation policies to participants.
  • Ensures the safeguarding and pick-up of donations from meal sites.
  • Practices personal safety knowledge to perform basic first aid and notify emergency services.
  • Prepares and maintains basic records and reports to assist the ADRC with routine record keeping including participant registration, meal reservations, and Meals on Wheels route updating.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
