About The Position

Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is seeking a Meal Delivery Driver for their Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). This role is responsible for delivering meals to PACE participants' homes and satellite facilities, ensuring timely delivery and proper food temperatures. The driver will also maintain records, follow food safety guidelines, assist with meal packaging and preparation as needed, and ensure vehicle maintenance and cleanliness. Adherence to all FHCSD PACE policies, HIPAA guidelines, and infection control procedures is required. The position involves travel throughout San Diego County and requires maintaining a safe working environment, participating in continuing education, and supporting quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
  • Food Handler Permit required upon hire or obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Requires an active California driver's license for the class required for operation of assigned vehicle.
  • Traveling between sites and other locations is required as an essential function of the job.
  • Must have a car, a valid California driver’s license, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law, although limits of $100,000 are recommended.
  • An acceptable driving record is also required.
  • California law requires all drivers to obtain a valid California driver’s license within ten days of establishing residency.
  • Mileage and other reimbursement governed by policy.
  • Must be able to communicate with and relate to a diverse staff and clients in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet goals, multitask and perform duties in a timely fashion.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-year related experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the San Diego area and surrounding communities.
  • Ability to drive in all types of traffic, roads, and weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver meals to PACE participants homes and satellite PACE facilities.
  • Deliver meals in a timely manner to maintain correct holding temperatures.
  • Maintain accurate record of meals, temperature logs and vehicle mileage.
  • Follow food safety guidelines to promote safe food handling, which include, but are not limited to, the practice personal hygiene, hand washing, and wearing caps or hair nets.
  • Assist in packaging and packing of meals as needed.
  • Assist with food preparation as needed.
  • Assist with meals in Day Center as needed.
  • May work at satellite facilities as needed.
  • Maintain a clean vehicle and follow up with routine maintenance.
  • Adhere to all Family Health Center for Older Adults PACE Policies and Procedures.
  • Observes HIPAA guidelines.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all company procedures, results, and information about participants, clients, or families.
  • Apply universal precautions and adheres to appropriate Infection Control procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal and local regulations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Participates in continuing education classes and any required staff and training meetings.
  • Participates in and supports Quality Improvement Initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
