About The Position

To process assigned information through an electronic system of computers and related equipment in an efficient manner, and in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Requires two (2) years college with a major in computer and data processing and two (2) years’ experience in computer and data processing functions in a health care facility; or any combination of experience, education, or training which would provide knowledge required.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must have advanced training in hospital or long-term care administration.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to nursing facility administration.
  • Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the facility's computer and data processing functions.
  • Develop and maintain written policies and procedures that govern the computer and data processing functions of the facility.
  • Prepare assigned information and input into computer system; Ensure that incoming documents for processing are legible and total pages of documents are present
  • Understand the MDS process and the transmittal process.
  • Review MDS prior to transmission to assure there are no blanks, and that signatures are in place; transmit MDS in timely manner.
  • Maintain a log of transmittals with day, batch, time, and date.
  • Maintain a calendar of MDS information.
  • Notify appropriate personnel when hardware/software fails so that necessary repairs or replacement can be made.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of changes in the computer and processing data status.
  • Separate and distribute output data reports as directed; ensure data files are backed up daily.
  • Assist in programming, system analysis, data research, storing and recalling information as directed.
  • Ensure that current virus protection programs are installed and running on each system connected to the internet.
  • Meet with personnel to correct problems that are occurring in the data processing operation.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information.
  • Perform other related assignments as required.
