About The Position

This internship is for medical school students interested in drug discovery and development within the Internal Medicine Clinical Development Unit. Interns will gain a general understanding of the global development organization, complete a hands-on project impacting the business, engage with Regeneron leadership, and collaborate with a hiring manager and other interns. The role also involves establishing connections with employee resource groups, participating in professional development sessions, showcasing knowledge through presentations, and receiving compensation for their work. The summer intern will be placed on a project team in the Internal Medicine Clinical Development Unit, potentially analyzing clinical trial data from recent studies or databases in disease areas such as cardiovascular, pulmonary, and/or immunological & inflammatory diseases. Training will be provided on basic statistical modeling techniques using SAS JMP, data cleaning, statistical analysis, and linear regression. The intern will work closely with the global program head, medical director, and clinical pharmacology director, and receive training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards, including relevant ICH and FDA Guidelines. Attendance at relevant team meetings will also be part of the experience. At the end of the internship, the student will present their research experiences to an internal audience.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in medical school and returning to school the semester following the internship
  • Medical student currently enrolled in an accredited US medical school (MD)
  • Must have completed at least the first-year basic science curriculum
  • Students who have completed the second year and beyond will also be considered but must have adequate time available during an elective or research rotation to be on site at Regeneron
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • On site attendance at Regeneron offices in Tarrytown NY is expected 5 days per week

Nice To Haves

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 is preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership in areas such as campus activities, clubs, sports, current or previous work, or within the community is also preferred
  • Prior research experience is preferred but not required
  • Understanding of biostatistics, experimental design and the scientific method is preferred
  • Experience with R studio, Python, SPSS, SAS or SAS JMP is a plus

  • Give a presentation/summary of their research experiences to an internal audience at Regeneron
