About The Position

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position will be to serve in the department’s effort to fulfill the Board’s mission of protecting the public. This position will develop and be responsible for complaints to the Maryland Board of Nursing regarding a potential breach of the standards of nursing practice as they relate to violations of the Nurse Practice Act. This is a full performance level of work conducting investigations of licensed health care practitioners. This is a major component in fulfilling our mission to protect the public. Additionally, this position requires: Knowledge of general acceptable standards of health care procedures and policies. Exceptional research and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, professionals, other healthcare workers, and the public. Knowledge of healthcare principles, practices, and procedures. Ability to present recommendations clearly and concisely. Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion regarding assigned tasks. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, staff of other agencies and the public. Ability to prepare and present reports or recommendations clearly and concisely. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience conducting investigations in the areas of health care, insurance, medical malpractice or other related investigative experience as defined by Maryland Board of Physicians.
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience conducting investigations in the areas of health care, insurance, medical malpractice or other related investigative experience as defined by Maryland Board of Physicians.
  • U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Legal or Investigator classifications or Legal or Investigator specialty codes in the Investigation field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  • Knowledge of general acceptable standards of health care procedures and policies.
  • Exceptional research and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, professionals, other healthcare workers, and the public.
  • Knowledge of healthcare principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to present recommendations clearly and concisely.
