Job Overview The Strategy MBA Intern will support the development of key customer and digital growth initiatives by conducting strategic analyses, developing recommendations, and partnering with stakeholders across the organization. This role offers exposure to enterprise-level decision-making and strategy development. Macy’s summer internship program provides interns with a hands-on and in-depth understanding of a core business function in retail. Interns have opportunities to directly impact the business as a key part of a team and by sharing new ideas. Macy’s interns experience everything our culture has to offer through exposure to senior leaders and networking opportunities. This internship program will be held in Macy’s New York, New York Corporate offices.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in an MBA program.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
• All majors will be considered for this opportunity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including storytelling, presentation, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.
• Strong retail math, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze sales, gross margin, inventory productivity, sell-through, and other key retail performance metrics; identify trends; and translate data into actionable business recommendations.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis techniques; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Basic understanding of financial performance metrics, profitability concepts, statistical analysis, and assortment planning.
• Ability to independently organize and prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external business partners while managing multiple priorities.
• Ability to run, interpret, and analyze reports using assigned systems and tools.
• Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and relationship management skills.
• Ability to streamline processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive business results.

Responsibilities

• Support customer and digital strategy initiatives through research, analysis, and insight development.
• Assist in evaluating growth opportunities and translating complex business questions into clear strategic recommendations.
• Contribute to cross-functional projects involving Marketing, Merchandising, Stores, Analytics, and Technology teams.
• Develop executive-ready presentations, strategic narratives, frameworks, and business cases.
• Support special projects and ad hoc analyses related to business performance and strategic planning.
• Present findings and recommendations to business leaders and stakeholders.
