About The Position

Responsible for using expert knowledge to operate and control computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines, primarily Mazak Integrex machine tools. This role requires the ability to edit and program in both Mazatrol and EIA programming languages. The machinist must be highly familiar with the live milling capabilities and fifth-axis features of Mazak Integrex machines, demonstrating confidence in their operation while adhering to the highest safety standards and ensuring quality workmanship. The machinist will be capable of performing their own setups using engineering drawings and work order instructions, and will be expected to train new employees and cross-train on other machine tools.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge to operate and control computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines.
  • Ability to edit and program in Mazatrol and EIA programming.
  • Familiarity with live milling capabilities and fifth-axis features of Mazak Integrex machines.
  • Capability to make own setups using engineering drawings and work order instructions.
  • Willingness to train new employees and cross-train on other machine tools.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of basic math, blueprints, and routers.
  • Knowledge of the proper use of measuring tools/gauges and cutting tools.
  • 5 or more years’ relevant experience.
  • Ability to read and understand machine code terminology, G&M codes.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and control computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines, primarily Mazak Integrex machine tools.
  • Edit and program Mazak Integrex machines using Mazatrol and EIA programming.
  • Operate live milling capabilities and fifth-axis features of Mazak Integrex machines.
  • Ensure the highest safety standards and quality in workmanship.
  • Make own setups using engineering drawings and work order instructions.
  • Train new employees and cross-train on other types of machine tools.
  • Operate, perform set-up changes, and conduct first article inspections on production runs utilizing CNC Machines.
  • Load parts utilizing overhead lifting equipment, prove tapes, operate controls, set offsets, perform simple edits, deburr, and inspect parts for conformance to requirements.
  • Identify problems before production runs, observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions, and adjust machine controls as required.
  • Read blueprints, precision measuring instruments, and job orders to determine dimensions, tolerance, and tooling requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of dimensions and tolerances for tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and cutting tools.
  • Prove out new programs and make simple edits of NC programs on numerically controlled machines.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Focus on various computer-controlled machines.
  • Be familiar with the set up and operation of midsize to large Mazak multi-axis mill turn machine tools.
  • Program the tool path of these machines using Mazatrol at the machine site.
