About The Position

The Senior MCC BMT Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients at the Mays Cancer Center. Provides nursing care to immunocompromised patients with complex needs, including hematology stem cell transplant and cellular therapy patients across the adult and geriatric spectrum in the outpatient setting. Demonstrate competency across the continuum of malignant hematology and stem cell transplantation. Deliver high-quality care across all domains of practice when caring for patients receiving cellular therapies. Develop and implement an individualized plan for utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Ensures enhanced patient outcomes through effective communication, collaboration, mentorship, and effective delegation in the exercise of his/her independent judgment. May lead or mentor lower level team members. Assesses the unit's needs related to practice and improvement opportunities.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Experience in direct nursing care
  • Experience with immunocompromised patients
  • Experience with hematology stem cell transplant patients
  • Experience with cellular therapy patients
  • Competency in malignant hematology
  • Competency in stem cell transplantation
  • Proficiency in the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation)
