About The Position
Paul D. Camp Community College is seeking a qualified individual to teach primarily mathematics courses. Full-time faculty responsibilities include teaching the equivalent of 15 – 20 credit hours per semester, which may include a mixture of day and night classes. Paul D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia with campuses located in Franklin and Suffolk, and a center in Smithfield. The college offers a variety of programs including associate degrees, certificates, career studies certificates, workforce development, special interest classes, and youth programs. They also offer dual enrollment, online courses, and developmental studies.
Requirements
- Teaching the equivalent of 15 – 20 credit hours per semester.
- May include a mixture of day and night classes.
- Fifteen-twenty (15-20) contact hours per semester.
- Ten (10) student contact hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Teaching: Creating a learning environment that facilitates students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills in a subject. Teaching encompasses four components: Instructional Design, Instructional Delivery, Instructional Effectiveness, and Instructional Expertise.
- Scholarly and Creative Engagement: Engage in scholarly and/or creative activity, which may include conference attendance and presentation, participation in professional organizations, academic coursework, scholarly research and publications, and grant activity.
- Institutional Responsibility: Performing assigned or presumed duties according to one’s role at the college. These activities support and advance both the mission of the VCCS and the college to enhance the effective functioning of the college. These responsibilities include: participate in the college’s development and evaluation plan for part-time teaching faculty; participate in required department, committee, and college meetings; adhere to college and VCCS policies; perform assigned duties; and maintain a collegial working relationship with faculty, and staff.
- Service: Quality participation and commitment to students, college and/or community organizations, which is an expectation of one’s activities as a professional educator. Activities in this domain are differentiated college representation, college citizenship, and community citizenship.
