About The Position

This is a full-time, tenure-track teaching faculty position at Northampton Community College's Bethlehem Campus, beginning in the Fall 2026 semester. The role involves teaching developmental and college-level mathematics courses with a focus on fostering student engagement, building foundational math skills, and addressing diverse learning needs. The teaching load is 15 credits per semester, totaling 30 credits per academic year. In addition to teaching, faculty members are expected to advise students, engage in college service, and pursue professional growth annually. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in mathematics from a Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) approved Institutional Accreditor institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years college teaching experience (preferably at a community college).
  • Teaching developmental mathematics preferred.
  • Experience working with and ability to meet the needs of community college students from various academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds (especially first-generation college students and adult learners).
  • Knowledge of growth mindset to help students face math anxiety.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with McGraw-Hill ALEKS software.
  • Experience working within D2L Brightspace learning management system.

Responsibilities

  • Teach developmental mathematics and college-level mathematics courses.
  • Develop and deliver effective lesson plans and provide high-quality instruction.
  • Use current knowledge of trends and innovations to refine curricular and instructional materials.
  • Enhance student learning and retention.
  • Participate in college service, including advising students and serving on the Math Cluster and other college committees.
  • Take part in continuous professional development.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to a diverse college community, student population, and curriculum.
  • Plan instructional offerings, maintain curriculum, and participate in academic assessments.
  • Acquaint students with course requirements and provide periodic progress evaluations.
  • Collaborate with the math cluster, department coordinators, and program manager on course outcomes.
  • Select textbooks and other instructional materials.
  • Comply with the Contract with Local #3579 of the American Federation of Teachers.
  • Recommend the purchase of necessary library books and instructional resources.
  • Assist in the recruitment of full-time faculty members.
  • Carry on an effective student advising program and implement the referral program.
  • Participate in all regularly scheduled meetings of the department/division and professional staff.
  • Prepare preliminary budget materials.
  • Complete an annual self-evaluation report.
