About The Position

Math Corps is hiring a Math Tutor to serve at St. Bernard's School during the 2026–27 school year. Tutors help students in kindergarten through grade 3 improve their math skills through scheduled small-group practice. On each school day, tutors work with groups of up to three students for 20–30 minutes, then help students return to their classrooms and bring in the next group. Math Corps provides training and ongoing coaching; prior expertise in math is not required.

The position runs from August 2026 through June 2027. Full-time service is 35 hours per week, with fewer hours during weeks that include holidays or school release days. Daytime hours correspond to school start and end times, Monday through Friday. Part-time positions are also available at 25 hours per week. Full-time AmeriCorps members receive a paycheck (stipend) every two weeks; stipend amounts and education awards are described on the careers page.

Requirements

• Be dependable and have a history of good attendance.
• Be able to follow instructions and improve based on feedback.
• Have basic computer skills, such as using email and navigating online.
• Be fluent in spoken, written, and read English.
• Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent by the start of service.
• Be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
• Successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide caring, supportive attention to help children thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule so students receive support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's on-site coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores in data software.
• Participate in coaching and training to support personal growth.
• Share the tutoring experience with the community.
