About The Position

Math Corps is hiring Math Tutors to serve students at local schools during the 2026–27 school year. Tutors work with groups of up to three students for 20–30 minutes of math practice, moving between groups according to a schedule until all assigned students have been served. Tutors use proven activities and receive training and ongoing coaching. The role is intended to help students improve their math skills and confidence through individual attention and encouragement. Positions run from January 2027 through May 2027. Full-time schedules are 37.5 hours per week, with fewer hours during weeks with holidays or school release days. Part-time positions of 27.5 hours per week are also available. Hours are during the day, corresponding with school start and end times, Monday through Friday, with no weekends. Members have time off on holidays and school release days. AmeriCorps members have a total service-hour commitment for the program year; most hours are completed through regular site-based service, and members work with program staff to plan schedules. Approved service or training may occasionally take place outside the school day as needed. Full-time AmeriCorps members receive a paycheck (stipend) every two weeks at $17.50 per hour served. Benefits include individual health insurance with the monthly premium fully covered, child care assistance based on family size and income, a member assistance program, and education benefits. Education benefits include up to $1,956.35 for college tuition or student loans, federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment, and time accrued toward the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
