About The Position

Math Corps Math Tutors serve at a local school, helping students improve their math skills through structured, small-group practice. Tutors work with groups of up to three students for 20–30 minutes at a time, then help students return to their classrooms and bring in the next group. Tutors encourage students as they build skills and confidence. Training and coaching are provided. This role is for the remainder of the 2026–27 school year, with positions running January 2027 through June 2027. The standard schedule is 27.5 hours per week, with fewer hours during weeks with holidays or school release days; reduced part-time positions of 20 hours per week may also be available. Work takes place during daytime hours that correspond with school start and end times, Monday through Friday. Members have holidays and school release days off. AmeriCorps members have a total service-hour commitment for the program year; most hours are completed at the service site, though approved service or training may occasionally take place outside the school day. Part-time AmeriCorps members receive a paycheck every two weeks in the form of a stipend. The stipend is equivalent to $20.04 per hour, though the role is not compensated as an hourly position. Benefits include a member assistance program and education benefits, including up to $1,956.35 for college tuition or student loans, federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment, and time accrual toward the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Tutors age 55 or older may transfer the education award to a qualified family member. Math Corps is an AmeriCorps tutoring program administered by Ampact, a nonprofit organization, and fueled by research from ServeMinnesota’s National Science + Service Collaborative. Ampact prohibits discrimination and harassment on the bases listed in the posting and offers reasonable accommodation upon request.
