The position is responsible for supporting students who require additional academic and motivational support to meet grade-level expectations and develop the skills necessary for long-term success. The role works directly with students—particularly those performing below grade level in mathematics and/or English Language Arts—to strengthen executive functioning skills, support goal setting, and build student motivation and engagement with learning. Students identified for this specialized program remain rostered to their previous school with the goal being for them to go back to that school once executive functioning skills are mastered and academic progress is maintained. The program will have an emphasis on team-building, executive functioning skills, resiliency, career interests, goal-setting and action planning, time management, and academic success. Teachers can expect their typical schedule to include social-emotional learning, at least 100-minute blocks for ELA or Math (whichever they teach) for Tier I and II instruction, an exploratory class, and be the teacher of record for online science and social studies courses. The teachers will work closely on a small team who interact with all students.
