About The Position

Cristo Rey Orlando High School is seeking a mission-driven Math Teacher who will support the school’s vision by delivering rigorous, standards-aligned mathematics instruction that prepares students for success in college-preparatory coursework. The ideal candidate is a dedicated and passionate Math teacher who thrives on helping students connect math concepts to real-life applications. At Cristo Rey Orlando High School, you will play a key role in planning, organizing, and implementing hands-on instructional programs that engage students and make learning math relevant. Your focus will be on creating a classroom culture of bell-to-bell instruction, ensuring that every moment is used effectively to support student learning. With a commitment to continuous assessment and curriculum development, you will track student progress and adapt your teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners. You will also implement targeted intervention and enrichment strategies, ensuring that each student is supported throughout their learning journey, helping them reach their full academic potential in math. Your approach will foster an environment where every student feels encouraged and challenged. The school is part of the national Cristo Rey Network and opened its doors to its inaugural freshmen class in the fall of 2025. It is a Catholic, college preparatory high school for students of all faiths from families of limited financial means, serving students of diverse backgrounds. The school helps students grow intellectually, academically, emotionally, spiritually, socially, and morally, aspiring for them to graduate from high school and college and become future leaders. Cristo Rey Orlando will prepare students to excel in college, in career, and in character through its college-prep curriculum, Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP), and faith-based education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related field (minimum of 12 credit hours in education preferred).
  • Valid Florida teaching certification (or ability to obtain certification).
  • 3–5 years of teaching experience.
  • Experience serving marginalized communities strongly preferred.
  • Training in math pedagogy, hands-on learning strategies, or supporting students with special needs preferred but not required.
  • Strong classroom management skills and commitment to high expectations.
  • Reliable attendance and professional standards, including professional attire.
  • Commitment to supporting the Catholic mission of the school.
  • Ability to pass a background screening.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of the Florida BEST Standards for Mathematics and the Silicon Valley Math Initiative curriculum and assessments.
  • Experience teaching Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry aligned to state standards.
  • Experience using Silicon Valley Math Initiative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction.
  • Ability to develop individualized academic plans for at-risk students and collaborate with families and school leadership.
  • Proficiency in educational technology, data analysis tools, and student performance tracking systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Canvas, and related instructional platforms.
  • Spanish language proficiency is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver culturally relevant, hands-on lessons that connect Math concepts to real-life situations, making learning engaging and applicable for students.
  • Regularly develop and update course materials using backward planning, assessment data, and ongoing curriculum analysis to meet the needs of all students while aligning with school standards.
  • Use student assessment data to refine lesson plans and provide targeted interventions and enrichment, helping each student thrive.
  • Foster an engaging, dynamic classroom that challenges students while accommodating their diverse learning styles.
  • Maintain high academic standards for all students, providing the support and challenges needed for them to reach their full potential.
  • Build strong relationships with families to ensure open communication and collaboration in supporting student success.
  • Offer regular office hours for additional instruction and personalized support for students.
  • Establish trust and rapport with students, effectively managing and guiding behavior to maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.
  • Continuously grow as an educator by collaborating with colleagues, participating in professional development, and both giving and receiving feedback.
  • Embrace the school's mission to inspire and prepare students from underserved backgrounds to succeed in college and lead their communities as compassionate, committed, and competent individuals for the greater glory of God.
  • Actively participate in the school's religious life, demonstrating care and pastoral support for students.
  • Engage in the school community by taking on supervision duties, participating in retreats, special events, and contributing to the July summer student program.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal.
