About The Position

Portland Public Schools seeks an innovative and passionate math professional to join our PACE team. PACE is Portland Public Schools alternative classroom-based, teacher-led, alternative high school for students in grades 9 - 12. Our district is collaborative and committed to supporting staff growth, instructional innovation, and positive outcomes for every student.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Mathematics Endorsements
• Strong base in the subject area content, common core standards

Nice To Haves

• Exceptional communication, analysis, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Understanding of, or demonstrated training in, PBIS and MTSS initiatives
• Ability to handle complex and stressful issues or situations with sound judgment, common sense, and a calm demeanor
• Impeccable character, a good sense of humor, and compassion for students, families, and staff
• Experience in working with special needs students

Responsibilities

• Integrate technology into teaching and learning practices
• Undertake extra-curricular assignments
• Use assessments and student data to drive meaningful instruction
• Develop and sustain positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and district colleagues
• Sustain and improve student achievement outcomes
• Contribute to a safe school climate of high expectations and strong collaboration, high staff and student morale, and positive community involvement
