About The Position

The Academy for Technology and the Classics (ATC) is a grades 7-12 public charter school in Santa Fe, New Mexico, known for its familial atmosphere and dedicated faculty. ATC is a nationally top-ranked, college preparatory school. This position is for a Math Teacher for the 26-27 school year. Depending on applicant availability, the role could be a 0.4 FTE 8th grade math teacher or a 1.0 FTE 8th grade math and Algebra 1 teacher. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with 8th-grade students and possess the skills to design engaging 60- and 90-minute lessons that cater to the learning needs of middle schoolers. ATC values teachers who appreciate and understand the developmental needs of middle school students.

Requirements

• Licensed to teach in New Mexico and endorsed/highly qualified in the subject areas applied for.
• Demonstrated ability to work with middle school students, supporting their learning and sense of belonging.
• Proficiency in the social-emotional dimensions of teaching, including building effective relationships and rapport.
• Proficiency in digital tools for the classroom, including Google suite, interactive whiteboards/peripherals, Canvas (LMS), and PowerSchool.

• Pre-service candidates should demonstrate enrollment in/completion of alternative licensure programming that qualifies the candidate for provisional New Mexico licensing.

Responsibilities

• Curriculum development and implementation for all assigned courses, ensuring students are meaningfully engaged in rigorous learning "from bell to bell."
• Maintaining updated Canvas courses weekly to share lessons and curricula with all stakeholders.
• Assessment design and analysis for all assigned courses, using informal and formal assessments to inform students, faculty, and families of academic progress and individual needs.
• Updating grades weekly.
• Planning and implementation of Student Advisory, "College Crew."
• Collaboratively designing a grade-level College Crew course to support students in attaining college and career readiness.
• Parent/family engagement and communication, including weekly contact as needed for attendance and academic concerns.
• Utilizing digital communication tools (Canvas, Remind, DeansList, PowerSchool) to inform students and families of course expectations and progress.
• Professional collaboration and learning, including regular participation in professional learning, departmental, and grade-level team meetings.
• Weekly participation in collaborative planning.
• Providing personalized learning and support for all students to achieve their highest potential in a rigorous, college prep environment.
• Collaborating with IEP teams, case managers, and EL support staff to implement individualized education plans.
• Co-curricular and extra-curricular engagement with students, typically sponsoring or supervising activities three times per week.
• Assisting in the orderly operation of the school, equitably applying and adhering to school policies/procedures, and performing supervisory duties weekly.
