About The Position

Port Huron High School is seeking a Math Teacher to join their team. This position involves planning, preparing, and delivering instructional activities to facilitate active learning experiences. The ideal candidate will create and maintain an environment that fosters student achievement and the development of lifelong skills, while maximizing student success through positive working relationships. The role requires instructing and monitoring students in the use of learning materials and equipment, demonstrating confidence with technology, and serving as a role model for lifelong learning and professional behavior. Collaboration, flexibility, resourcefulness, and innovation are key, as is the ability to manage learning experiences responsive to student needs. The teacher will observe and evaluate student performance, encourage progress, assign and grade work, and provide feedback. This role may involve physical demands such as bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The teacher is expected to conduct themselves professionally and represent the School District positively.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan Teaching certificate with Mathematics endorsement preferred.
  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must be Highly Qualified in endorsement area.
  • Must meet certification and endorsement requirements for assignment.
  • Must meet all NCA and Michigan Department of Education requirements.
  • Be proficient in the use of technology.
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative environment and area always willing to learn new skills or revamp their curriculum.
  • Be flexible, resourceful, innovative and can effectively manage the design and execution of learning experiences, both formal and informal, that are very responsive to the needs of students and the context in which learning is taking place.
  • In this role you must be able to bend, twist, stoop, squat and lift up to 50 pounds in assisting students.

  • Conducts himself/herself in a professional manner commensurate with his/her position and project a good public image of the School District in dealing with the community and employee groups.
