Requirements

  • Valid Kansas Teacher License/Certification
  • Content knowledge and expertise in teaching elementary math problem solving, algebra, geometry, number sense, and computation
  • Ability to analyze and interpret assessment data to identify students’ strengths and weaknesses
  • Ability to facilitate building math professional staff training
  • Ability to facilitate family math training evenings and extended learning for students
  • Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with colleagues/parents
  • Knowledge and understanding of the progressions of mathematics
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, and effective math interventions/strategies

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3 years of successful experience
  • Master’s degree with significant math coursework
  • Successful leadership and or experience in providing parent and staff training

Responsibilities

  • Strategically teach math to students in the Title I math program
  • Communicate and support parents related to teaching their children math
  • Support math staff development at the building level
  • Support Building Level Teams related to the improvement of math achievement
  • Collaborate with district staff on initiatives to improve math achievement
  • Assist with planning and teaching, if possible, elementary summer school math and extended learning
  • Prepare and deliver focused math intervention instruction in a small group Title 1 Math setting
  • Interpret assessment data to identify students’ strengths and weaknesses to drive instruction
  • Collaborate and confer with classroom teachers in a variety of ways (i.e., PLCs, model lessons, planning, standards discussion, analysis of student work)
  • Serve as a resource for teachers with selection of materials, teaching techniques/strategies, and how to relate instruction to support student needs
  • Provide resources for classroom teachers, para-professionals, aides, and parents
