About The Position

Performs professional-level duties under minimal supervision to instruct students in accordance with state and district curricular standards and policies pertaining to the education of students. This role involves regular contact with students, other teachers, support and administrative staff, and parents, requiring tact, diplomacy, and independent judgment for problem-solving, policy interpretation, and counseling. Good people skills, adherence to safety guidelines, district dress standards, attendance policies, and effective problem-solving are essential for maintaining a disciplined and conducive learning environment. Creativity and initiative are important for delivering instruction aligned with the Oklahoma Teacher and Leader Effectiveness Model and other state and district standards.

Requirements

  • State Licensure or Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Minimum)
  • Completion of student teaching
  • Demonstration of Content Knowledge when teaching assignment is in ESSA category required to meet highly qualified standards.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches via the inclusive model and provides effective instruction in support of the classroom teacher.
  • Provides supplemental and remedial instruction as needed.
  • Conducts student assessments to determine remedial/supplemental needs.
  • Supervises students in the classroom, building, and grounds.
  • Maintains proper classroom discipline and a positive learning environment.
  • Instructs students according to the approved curriculum and state/district standards.
  • Prepares lessons that progress sequentially and offer alternate learning methods.
  • Prepares lesson plans as required by the Principal.
  • Keeps accurate grade books, records, and reports.
  • Demonstrates desired skills and cares for students.
  • Models friendships, acceptance, and recognition.
  • Possesses and maintains adequate subject matter knowledge.
  • Establishes effective instructional objectives.
  • Explains assignment purpose and procedure, provides sufficient directions.
  • Encourages effective learning with proper teaching techniques.
  • Involves learners and encourages individual response.
  • Establishes activities requiring independent student participation.
  • Monitors student activities and progress through grading and feedback.
  • Provides for supervised study.
  • Ensures students acquire skills and knowledge to apply learning.
  • Adjusts teaching methods based on student progress monitoring.
  • Improves student achievement, attitude, attendance, and receptivity.
  • Provides opportunities for all students to achieve based on their learning capacity.
  • Contributes to the effectiveness and quality of school programs, including extracurricular activities.
  • Actively supports and seeks ways to improve the quality of education.
  • Cooperates with other school personnel and serves on committees.
  • Engages in personal growth and development.
  • Cares for and assists students with special concerns.
  • Interacts constructively with parents.
  • Attends school and district meetings as required.
