The Math Teacher Grade 5 is responsible for exhibiting accurate knowledge of content and pedagogy, understanding students' individual development, needs, skills, and knowledge. This role involves selecting and using appropriate resources, adhering to Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and 504 plans, and designing coherent lessons, activities, and assessments. The teacher will create a positive and respectful learning environment, manage classroom procedures and student behavior effectively, and communicate clearly with students, parents, guardians, and other school staff to address academic and behavioral issues. High expectations and effective lesson delivery, questioning techniques, and timely feedback are crucial. The position requires the use of assessments during instruction, flexibility in response to student learning, and reflection on teaching practices to improve student achievement. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate records, managing classroom equipment and supplies, communicating with families about student progress, participating in the professional community, pursuing professional growth, exhibiting professionalism, reporting suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse, enforcing administration policies, attending professional meetings and development sessions, assisting in student supervision in various school settings, sponsoring extracurricular activities, and performing other duties as assigned by administrators.
