About The Position

Jefferson RISE Charter School is seeking a Math Instructional Coach for the 2026-2027 school year. This tuition-free public charter school serves nearly 800 students in grades 6-12 in Harvey, Louisiana, with a mission to ensure every student graduates prepared for their chosen path. The school emphasizes rigorous academics, strong relationships, consistent accountability, and individual student success. The student body is diverse, with a significant percentage qualifying as economically disadvantaged, having disabilities, or being English Learners. Jefferson RISE has received recognition for its academic achievements, including a Top Gains Award and a high graduation rate. The school operates on a unique academic calendar and daily schedule, with workdays generally from 7:00 AM to 3:45 PM, Monday through Friday, including mandatory Professional Development on Mondays until 4:30 PM.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate approximately 6-8 Math teachers.
  • Conduct weekly one-on-one coaching meetings with direct reports.
  • Observe classrooms regularly and provide actionable feedback aligned to the school's instructional rubric and NIET evaluation framework.
  • Complete formal observations and evaluations in accordance with school timelines.
  • Develop individualized growth plans for teachers.
  • Support teachers in implementing feedback and measuring impact.
  • Serve as a model educator and demonstrate effective instructional practices.
  • Support retention and development of high-performing teachers.
  • Plan and facilitate weekly Math PLC meetings.
  • Lead analysis of student work, assessment results, and instructional practices.
  • Develop action plans to address student learning gaps.
  • Design and facilitate professional development throughout the school year.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Instructional Leadership Team to plan and deliver schoolwide professional learning.
  • Lead summer professional development planning and facilitation.
  • Ensure high-quality implementation of the school's Tier 1 Math curriculum.
  • Support teachers in lesson internalization, lesson planning, and assessment design.
  • Analyze student achievement data and instructional trends.
  • Support intervention planning for students who are not yet meeting grade-level expectations.
  • Monitor curriculum implementation and instructional quality across classrooms.
  • Stay current on instructional research and best practices in literacy and Math instruction.
  • Teach Math courses for approximately 50% of the instructional day (2 HS blocks or equivalent).
  • Maintain exemplary classroom results and instructional practices.
  • Use classroom experience to model effective instruction and maintain credibility as an instructional leader.
  • Demonstrate strong student achievement and high-quality student work outcomes.
  • Participate in weekly Instructional Leadership Team meetings and Leadership Development.
  • Support hiring efforts through candidate screening, interviews, demonstration lessons, and hiring recommendations.
  • Assist with onboarding and development of new teachers.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student achievement and instructional programs when needed.
  • Embody and advance the mission, vision, and values of Jefferson RISE.
