About The Position

DC Scholars Public Charter School is seeking a passionate and hardworking Math Instructional Coach/Interventionist with a record of exceptional student achievement and outstanding classroom culture. The Math Instructional Coach/Interventionist is responsible for providing direct student intervention and training and coaching math teachers to drive math achievement for students. Specifically, the leader in this position will support teachers in using the rigorous Eureka Math Squared curriculum in order to meet the high bar set by the Common Core State Standards. The Math Instructional Coach/Interventionist works closely with members of the leadership team to ensure the math program is providing all children with the skills and knowledge required for success in high school, college and beyond.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of successful experience as a classroom teacher.
  • Experience working with adult learners including developing and delivering professional development, data-driven coaching, and ability to model exemplary instructional and classroom culture practices.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including teachers, students, parents, and administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute engaging, rigorous, and developmentally appropriate Tier 1, 2, or 3 math instruction for scholars using the Eureka Math Squared curriculum.
  • Utilize research-based best instructional practices to create rigorous, dynamic learning environments for students.
  • Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom environment that will engage students in learning, promote creativity, and foster the development of 21st century skills such as communication and collaboration.
  • Provide modeling and support for students’ social emotional learning throughout the day.
  • Reward positive student behavior and hold students accountable for student culture expectations using DC Scholars school-wide systems.
  • Routinely collect and analyze student data and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Coach teachers using the DC Scholars continuous development cycle to achieve goals aligned with the DC Scholars teacher rubric.
  • Utilize a toolkit of coaching strategies that includes model lessons, observation and feedback, co-planning and co-teaching, and live coaching.
  • Supervise and support intellectual and practical preparation through module digestion, intellectual prep, and lesson plan feedback.
  • Conduct announced and unannounced classroom observations, providing written and real time feedback that drives continuous growth in teacher practice and student achievement.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of teacher progress connected to coaching goals.
  • Consistently analyze daily student exit tickets and additional assessment data to support teachers with analyzing data trends and design reteach lessons.
  • Lead the implementation of research-based curriculum, instruction, and assessments for math instruction.
  • Lead teachers in maintaining the integrity of the Math curriculum while providing differentiation and scaffolding to support the needs of all students.
  • Design and lead content-based professional development that builds teacher content knowledge of effective instructional practices.
  • Manage a portfolio of assessments to track student progress and provide teachers with formative data on every domain of the common core Math standards.
  • Facilitate data analysis with teams of teachers to identify trends, identify the root of student misunderstanding, and adapt instruction to support all students in making progress toward grade level targets.
  • Collect trends in curriculum implementation and student achievement.
  • Share that data with other members of the Leadership Team in order to set priorities for teacher training and ongoing development.
  • Collaborate with Principal to align instruction, culture, and people leadership across grades and content areas.
  • Engage in leadership team meetings, data analysis and action planning, and annual strategic planning on an as needed basis.
  • Help plan school-wide professional development days.
  • Analyze school-wide data trends and implement improvement strategies.
  • Build trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
