This work unit is responsible for delivering comprehensive educational services to adjudicated youth within a structured, supportive, and secure learning environment. The unit promotes high academic standards; the development of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and other 21st-century competencies; vocational and workforce readiness; and individual accountability for learning. Educational services include the provision and oversight of special education, general education, career and technical education, and postsecondary programming to ensure alignment with state standards and individualized student needs. This position exists to provide classroom instruction in the assigned content while incorporating workforce and career related skills with science, math, and/or literacy skills emphasis in alignment with CDE state standards and prepared graduate outcomes. The teacher adheres to district initiatives and Social Emotional Learning topics to committed youth in secondary and post secondary tracks in a safe and trauma informed environment. The teacher takes responsibility for knowledge of current state standards in the area of assigned content as well as workforce readiness skills and outcomes, literacy across content, the appropriate use of technology for teaching and learning, and other related subjects including best practice and research in pedagogy and prosocial youth development. The instructor takes responsibility for having an active and appropriate CDE license.
