About The Position

This role is a highly skilled diagnostic imaging professional specializing in advanced obstetric ultrasound. Working under the supervision of a Maternal–Fetal Medicine physician (perinatologist), this role performs detailed fetal anatomical surveys, high-risk pregnancy assessments, and specialized Doppler studies to support the diagnosis and management of complex maternal and fetal conditions. This role ensures high-quality imaging services are delivered in accordance with clinical protocols, regulatory standards, and patient care goals.

Requirements

  • Completion of a CAHEA approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography.
  • None. (Work Experience Required)
  • ARDMS Certification in OB/GYN within 1 Year
  • BLS from the American Heart Association Upon Hire
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Maintain equipment, exam rooms, and work areas to ensure neat and safe conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Demonstrate proficient technical skills and knowledge in use of all ultrasound/sonography equipment, protocols, procedures, and producing Quality imaging and accurate reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy and uses radiology information systems to facilitate care(Epic and Viewpoint).
  • Explains procedures to patients to ensure understanding, as well as obtain clinical history, educate, ease anxiety, answer questions to the best of your ability.
  • Perform transabdominal and transvaginal scans to obtain detailed fetal anatomic exams, umbilical artery and middle cerebral artery doppler studies, biophysical profiles, early 1st trimester dating exams, 2D imaging studies, and cervical lengths.
  • Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol
  • Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
  • Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.)
  • Performs other duties as assigned
