About The Position

Baptist Health Medical Group Maternal Fetal Medicine, located at Baptist Health – Brookwood Hospital, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer to join our growing Women’s Services team in Birmingham, AL. This role involves working collaboratively with one maternal fetal medicine physician and two nurse practitioners to deliver high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services for high-risk obstetrical patients. Our clinic is fast-paced, highly collaborative, and focused on delivering exceptional patient care while partnering closely with physicians and the care team. The position plays a critical role in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of complex pregnancies through advanced obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound examinations. The ideal candidate demonstrates clinical excellence, strong communication skills, and a commitment to exceptional patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • RDMS (OB/GYN) certification
  • Graduate of an accredited sonography program
  • Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong clinical and technical ultrasound skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • A team player who collaborates effectively with physicians and peers
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills

Nice To Haves

  • RDCS (FE) certification (or willingness to obtain within 1 year of hire)
  • Experience in Maternal Fetal Medicine

Responsibilities

  • Performing comprehensive maternal fetal ultrasound examinations
  • Obtaining high-quality diagnostic images and measurements in accordance with AIUM, ACOG, and SMFM guidelines
  • Recognizing and communicating abnormal findings to the MFM physician
  • Assisting with ultrasound-guided procedures
  • Maintaining accurate documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with departmental quality and safety standards
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams in collaboration with physicians
  • Ensure accurate imaging, patient identification, and documentation
  • Assess image quality and confirm proper anatomy is captured
  • Deliver compassionate patient care while maintaining safety standards
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and quality control standards
  • Assist with training and mentoring new team members as needed
