About The Position
The Perinatologist is a subspecialty of obstetrics with extensive experience in managing high-risk pregnancies and providing expert care for mothers and their unborn babies. They provide inpatient and outpatient clinical services. They will work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients and their families.
Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. required
- Board Certification or eligible in Maternal Fetal Medicine required
- Medical License for the applicable state required
- Must have completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)/AOA-accredited residency training program in Obstetrics and Gynecology required
- Completion of an approved Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship program required
- Language, Mathematical Reasoning ability needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide prenatal counseling, education, and care for pregnant women
- Diagnose and monitor conditions such as multiple births, preterm births, gestational diabetes, preterm labor, and high blood pressure
- Perform fetal interventions when necessary
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care
- Perform diagnostic tests, fetal ultrasound studies, and interpret results
- Counsel patients and their families on healthcare options and potential risks
- Develop and implement treatment plans for patients
- Participate in departmental and divisional conferences, committees, and quality improvement process. Along with participate in research projects to improve patient outcomes
- Assist with the teaching of medical students and residents
- Other duties may be assigned
