About The Position

The Materials Manager is responsible for leading the planning, procurement, inventory control, and movement of materials to support production and operational objectives. This role ensures the right materials are available at the right time, in the right quantities, while optimizing inventory levels, minimizing cost, and maintaining accurate inventory records. The Materials Manager partners closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Finance to ensure uninterrupted production flow, reduce material-related risks, and drive continuous improvement in materials processes.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of materials planning (MRP), inventory control, and supply chain principles.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and inventory management tools.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–8+ years of experience in materials management, inventory control, or supply chain operations.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage MRP environment that supports site programs to include the end to end process for materials planning including the determination and set-up of planning parameters
  • Develop and execute material planning strategies to support production schedules and customer demand.
  • Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and subassemblies to prevent production disruptions.
  • Collaborate with production and project teams to align material supply with build schedules and forecasted demand.
  • Oversee inventory levels, ensuring accuracy, proper stocking levels, and alignment with business targets.
  • Implement and maintain inventory control processes, including cycle counting, reconciliation, and audits.
  • Monitor excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory and drive mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with Procurement to support supplier selection, lead time management, and material availability.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to delivery, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Escalate supply risks and develop contingency plans to maintain continuity of operations.
  • Oversee warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, kitting, staging, and material movement.
  • Ensure efficient material flow from receipt through production and shipment.
  • Maintain organized, safe, and compliant warehouse and production support areas.
  • Act as primary owner of the MRP instance applied to all assigned Orgs withing the Denton facility.
  • Ensure accurate and timely inventory transactions within ERP or inventory management systems.
  • Maintain data integrity related to material movements, inventory levels, and bill of materials (BOMs).
  • Utilize system data to drive decision-making and improve material planning accuracy.
  • Work closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Finance to resolve material-related issues.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) by ensuring material readiness and supply chain alignment.
  • Provide input into production planning, capacity, and scheduling discussions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve material flow.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory turns, stockouts, and on-time material availability.
  • Drive standardization of materials processes across teams or sites.
  • Lead and develop materials, inventory, and/or warehouse team members.
  • Establish clear expectations, provide coaching, and ensure accountability for performance.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
