This position is for a Materials & Processes Engineer to join the team with Aerodyne Industries, a teammate company, supporting NASA's pursuits in deep space exploration. The role involves advising, guiding, and consulting on Materials & Processes (M&P) requirements for intravehicular (IVA) and extravehicular (EVA) environments. This includes materials selection, process control and qualification, design for corrosion prevention, electrical bonding, flammability, toxic offgassing, and process specification. The engineer will assist in reviewing and developing hardware, analysis, operations, hazard reviews, anomaly resolution, requirements verification, re-flight assessments, and flight acceptance testing. They will also formulate and present information to program boards, implement M&P system requirements into hardware design, and develop verification and validation plans. Input will be provided to program/project specifications to ensure appropriate materials requirements are incorporated. The role requires reviewing project/program documentation, specifications, and engineering drawings to ensure M&P requirements are met for spaceflight hardware. Additionally, the engineer will assess vendor processes, define necessary changes, and provide recommendations for qualification and acceptance testing. Support for inspection and manufacturing processes for human space flight systems is also a key responsibility.
