About The Position

The Materials Manager will play a key role in site leadership and strategy, supporting the execution of operational strategy aligned with business goals and growth plans. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business objectives into actionable plans and promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across supply chain and site leadership. The Materials Manager will also act as a key partner in addressing supply chain challenges and supporting broader operational initiatives. The position requires overseeing and guiding supply chain activities including procurement, planning, inventory, and warehouse operations, developing and executing sourcing strategies and supplier partnerships, and working closely with production teams to align materials planning with schedules and forecasts. Driving inventory optimization and working capital improvements is also a core responsibility. Additionally, the role involves supporting the delivery of site-level financial performance, including budget development, cost control, and margin improvement, as well as monitoring and driving reductions in labor, material, and overhead costs. Identifying and executing cost savings and efficiency initiatives, and supporting capital investment planning and ROI-driven decision-making are also key aspects of this position. The Materials Manager will lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across operations and supply chain using Lean principles, help establish and monitor KPIs to drive performance and accountability, and ensure compliance with quality systems, regulatory requirements, and HSE standards. Driving root cause problem-solving and sustainable corrective actions are also expected. Finally, the role includes leading, coaching, and developing supply chain teams across procurement, planning, inventory, and warehousing, and building organizational capability through talent development, succession planning, and performance management, while fostering strong cross-functional collaboration and communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, or supply chain
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-functional teams (operations + materials/supply chain)
  • Proven ability to lead at both strategic and tactical levels
  • Strong financial and operational acumen
  • Advanced problem-solving and decision-making capability
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred) and data-driven operations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with full P&L or site-level financial responsibility strongly preferred
  • Lean / Six Sigma experience preferred
