About The Position

With over 20,000 employees across the United States, Turner Industries is a leading industrial contractor. This role is for a Materials Manager to join the team in the New Iberia, LA area. The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing employees who receive, store, and distribute materials, tools, equipment, and products. This is an exempt role that reports to the Site Manager and/or Project Manager and involves performing various duties within established policies.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent
  • Preferably one (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill
  • Basic computer skills preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial materials and goods
  • Good leadership and mentoring skills
  • Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
  • Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Responsibilities

  • Manages employees that receive, store, and distribute material, tools, equipment, and products.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in lifting, transporting, storing, and loading materials and products by use of conveyors, cranes, hoists, or industrial trucks.
  • Applies knowledge of plant layout and material-handling equipment and procedures.
  • Studies receiving or shipping notices, requests for movement of raw materials and finished products, and reports of warehousing space available to develop schedule for material handling activities.
  • May confer with supervisors of other departments to coordinate the flow of materials or products.
  • May verify or prepare records, such as routing slips, material requisitions, and job orders.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
