About The Position

USPI Endoscopy Center of Grand Junction is seeking a motivated Materials Manager to join our team. This position requires weekdays only, with no holidays, weekends, or on-call duties. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required, and the schedule is subject to change based on the surgical schedule and the flow of the day. The Materials Manager is responsible for inventory control, including ordering, maintaining, receiving, and stocking all medical supplies. This role provides support to the surgical team and patient care within state standards and facility policies. Communication with other team members is essential. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Administrator, such as providing patient care in other peri-operative departments, serving on committees, or participating in quality improvement projects.

  • Adherence to OSHA standards for protection against bloodborne pathogens and body fluids
  • Understanding of Medical Equipment Program components (acquisition, maintenance, inventory, disposal)

  • Proficiency in good body mechanics and aseptic technique
  • Understanding of Utility Management Program components (Oxygen, Vacuum pumps, air filter exchanges, security alarms)
  • Ability to submit invoices to BOM in a timely manner

Responsibilities

  • Orders and maintains all medical inventory and miscellaneous supplies for the center.
  • Performs Quarterly Inventory accounting.
  • Checks in all supplies upon arrival against invoices and purchase orders, delivers supplies to appropriate locations, accounts for back orders, and prepares required paperwork for the Administrator.
  • Adheres to Center policies and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
  • Follows standards, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for peri-operative nursing care.
  • Researches and obtains pricing/quotes for medical equipment, supplies, and products; maintains files and is familiar with USPI procurement requirements for acquisition, inventory, and disposal.
  • Facilitates and expedites the receipt of damaged/broken medical equipment and coordinates prompt repair/replacement.
  • Remains calm and functions as a team member during stress and crisis situations.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the unique needs of different age groups in the patient population.
  • Completes all assigned educational requirements in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for Hazardous Materials/Hazardous Communication inventory and logs, following OSHA and other standards for protection against bloodborne pathogens and body fluids.
  • Responsible for the Medical Equipment Program: acquisition, maintenance, inventory, and disposal.
  • Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and development.
  • Uses good body mechanics and aseptic technique.
  • Responsible for the Utility Management Program, understanding facility maintenance such as Oxygen, Vacuum pumps, air filter exchanges, and security alarms.
  • Works directly with the Nurse Manager and Administrator, keeping them informed of day-to-day situations.
  • Ensures invoices are submitted to BOM in a timely manner, especially for month-end accruals.
  • Assists in the OR if needed.
  • Follows employee health and other personnel and staffing policies.
